Port Pirie ist eine Stadt im australischen Bundesstaat South Australia. Sie liegt etwa 220 km nordwestlich von Adelaide am Pirie River, der 8 km weiter westlich in den Spencer-Golf fließt.

Port Pirie wurde 1845 gegründet und hat heute etwa 14.000 Einwohner.cite-ref-abs-1-1[1] In der Stadt befindet sich die von Nyrstar betriebene Port Pirie Smelter, die größte Bleihütte der Welt. Sie erzeugt Blei, Zink, Kupfer Silber und Gold sowie Schwefelsäure aus den Erzen der Bergwerke von Broken Hill.cite-ref-2[2]

Port Pirie ist der zweitgrößte Hafen Südaustraliens und Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in die Flinderskette. Die Stadt ist zudem Sitz des römisch-katholischen Bistums Port Pirie, das den größten Teil von South Australia umfasst.

1937 wurde die Port Pirie durch eine Eisenbahnstrecke in Normalspur an Port Augusta angebunden und damit direkt an die Transaustralische Eisenbahn, die seit 1917 Kalgoorlie in Western Australia mit Port Augusta verband. Port Pirie blieb über Jahrzehnte ein wichtiger Umsteigebahnhof.
